This obituary was prepared with love by the family. Da’Menica Deshyan Roddy was born on June 10th, 2006, in Gary, IN to her loving parents Domenico and Danielle Roddy. Da’Menica was born the seventh child of ten siblings. Da’Menica accepted Christ at an early age and attended Excel church in Conyers, GA. Da’Menica was a 2024 graduate of Newton High school in Covington GA. She was anticipating the fall semester at Savannah State University. Da’Menica will be remembered for her love of others and infectious smile. She was always willing to help others and loved to encourage them through music, dancing, and self-care. Da’Menica was a social butterfly who NEVER met a stranger. Da’Menica entered eternal rest on Monday July 22, 2024. Da’Menica is preceeded in death by her Great grandmothers Dorothy Poe and Alberta Conley. Uncles: Monte Poe, Elton Poe Jr., Keenan Poe Sr., and Jamie Hines. Maternal grandmother Arnita Rudder of Covington, GA, maternal grandfather Duane Rudder of Chicago, IL. Uncles: Maurice (Gennera) Hawthorne of McDonough, GA, Shaun Rudder of Chicago, IL, Christian (Samantha) Riley of Terre Haute, IN, Tywan Poe of Gary, IN, Antonio (Tanika) Poe of Louisville, Kentucky, Tyran (Jameka) Roddy, Jr of Gary, IN. Aunts: TaWanda (Lafayette) Roddy-Gayden, of Las Vegas, NV, Nikeya (Shannon) Burnett, Ericha Roddy, Juanita (Troy) Miller all of Wynn, AK, and Ikima (Harold) Beckwith of Merrillville, IN. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins. Special friends Kya, Keela, Jaylan, and Ryan. Special uncles: Elton Poe Sr, Bryant Conley, and Omar “Big Homie” Kelly. Da’Menica was known affectionally to her family as “Boom” and to her friends she was known as “Meni.” Da’Menica will forever be our shining light in the darkness, the brightest star in the galaxy, and the breath of fresh air in our lives. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, from 9:00 am – 8:00 pm at Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services, 11405 Brown Bridge Rd, Covington. Visitation in IN. will be held Friday, August 9th, 2024, from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm at Smith, Bizzell & Warner Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 10th, 2024, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Zion Progressive Cathedral International. 1169 Connecticut Street, Gary, IN 46407 followed by funeral Services at 11:00 am.
