Jean P. Shepard

Jean P. Shepard, a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished Meema, and a dear friend to many, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Born in Bristol, England, Jean was known for her vibrant spirit, deep love, and remarkable talents. A gifted whistler and talented seamstress, Jean had a creative flair that brought joy to those around her. Her deep and abiding love for the Lord guided her life, and she was a founding and active member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Covington, later finding a new home at Mansfield Methodist Church, where she continued to nurture her faith. Jean met her beloved husband, Ralph, during World War II in Bristol, England. They married shortly after and enjoyed 55 beautiful years together until his passing. In 2001, she found love again with Harris Shepard, and they shared 11 wonderful years of marriage. Jean's adventurous spirit led her to travel, including memorable spring breaks in England and many camping trips. She had a successful career, working for Rich's, serving as a legal secretary, and later as an administrative assistant with the Conyers Police Department, contributing to the Drug Task Force and EMDET until her retirement at the age of 76. Above all, Jean cherished her family, who were the center of her world. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Doris (Weeks) Porter, husbands, Ralph Jones and Harris Shepard, stepson, Tom Shepard, siblings, Ken, Stella and David. Jean is survived by her children and their spouses, Chris (Wayne) Mize, Edie (David) Adair, Ralph “Buz” (Andrea) Jones, David (Kathy) Jones, Kenny (Maria) Jones, step-children and their spouses, Sandra (Mickey) Wilkerson, Cheryl (Jim) Bailey, Theresa (Joe) Alberts, Cricket Shepard, 25 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members, who will carry her love and memory forward. Jean was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 2pm in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services, with Pastor Todd Hilton officiating. Visitation starting at 12 pm.
