Ernest Edwin Tarpley, Jr. “Eddie”, age 77, of Covington, Georgia, entered into the gates of heaven Wednesday, September 4, 2024. He passed away peacefully at his home at 1:32 PM, surrounded by his wife Ann, of 49 years, his 3 children, Cheri, Jason & Kimberly and his daughter-n-law Georgette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Edwin Tarpley, Sr. and Alta Webb Tarpley. Eddie was a Printing Press Operator for over 61 years and retired in 2020 from Associated Printing Company at the age of 73. He was also a Fire Fighter for Salem Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was a kind and loving soul, devoted to his family, and cherished every moment spent with those he loved. He never missed an opportunity to tell us how much he loved us, even up to his last day. Born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 10, 1947, Eddie found joy in simple pleasures, especially in fishing, camping and hunting with his family, children and grandchildren. Being in the woods was one of his biggest passions in life. Whether casting a line, sitting around deer camp telling stories, dancing around the campfire or waiting patiently in a deer stand, Eddie was in his element, finding peace and connection with nature and the love and laughter of his family. He was not only a great outdoorsman but also a dedicated family man who had rededicated his life to Christ many years ago. His love for his family was his guiding force and he took pride in being a supportive and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was humble and gracious for everything in life. His kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Eddie is survived by his wife Ann Tarpley, his children Cheri Tarpley-Dourron (Hector), Jason Tarpley (Georgette) and Kimberly Tarpley-Baker (Matt). 8 Grandchildren; Blake, Madison & Katie Dourron, Adam & Jaden Tarpley and Braeden, Autumn & Jacob Baker. 1 Great-Grandchild; Elijah Dourron. Sister; Donna Tarpley-Stanton Brother; Randy Tarpley (Audri) He also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts. “His spirit will live on in the memories and laughter of his family, the stories told around the deer camp, and the special moments he shared with each and everyone one of us. Rest in peace Daddy. You will be forever loved and missed.” A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 1:00 pm at 548 Greene Settlement Road, Gray, GA 31032.
