Saunders, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Piedmont Newton Hospital at the age of 66. She was born in Chama, New Mexico to the late George and Lois (Johns) Grindle. She was a devote Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Gloria enjoyed spending time her family and all her grandchildren. She supported and attended her grandchildren’s extra-curricular activities. She was a generous woman who participated in numerous charitable events giving back to her community. She will be remembered for her kind heart and giving soul. Gloria never met a stranger. She was always there for others and lived her life completely dedicated to the word of God and was a member of Victory Community Church. Gloria loved to cook. She enjoyed spending time outside on her porch watching birds, especially humming birds. She loved to sit there reading and posting her daily devotionals on Facebook. Gloria was and encourager to her family and friends with her faith and she loved to do community service at hospitals, senior homes and the homeless. She was an avid Alabama football fan “Roll Tide” and loved to watch her grandson play high school football. Gloria adored the pageant family and doing pageants with her granddaughter and daughter. Everyone called her “Nanager”. She loved teaching her oldest grandson to bake, write music and sing together and just “cut-up” with him. She enjoyed deep-sea fishing with her husband and loved him dearly. Gloria also loved her fur babies Max, Molly, Thomas and PJ. Gloria is survived by her husband of 35 years Joe Saunders, her daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Mike Adcox, grandchildren Caleb, Hunter (Kaitlyn), Levi, Ja’El , her sister Barbara Holeman, her brothers and their wives Richard (Brenda) Grindle, Harold (Kathy) Grindle, Rickey (Christine) Grindle, Kenneth (Jo Anna) Grindle, Michael (Janet) Grindle, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Gloria will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 2pm at Wheeler Funeral Home and Cremation services located at 11405 Brown Bridge Rd Covington, GA 30016 with Pastor Doug Nelms officiating. The family will receive friends from 12pm-2pm. Internment will take place immediately after the service at Victory Community Church Cemetery 657 Mount Zion Rd. Oxford, Ga 30054.
