Beverley Henry Hardegree

Beverley Henry Hardegree, aged 88 and a lifelong resident of Covington, passed away on June 9, 2024. She was born on January 17, 1936, in Covington, GA. She was the wife of the late William F. Hardegree, Sr and the daughter of the late Spence and Emma Kate Henry. In addition to her husband and parents, Beverley was proceeded in death by her sister Mary Ellington and brothers Coleman Henry, Hudson Henry and James Henry. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jeaninne and Scott Phillips of Ballentine, SC, son William F Hardegree, Jr of Covington, grandchildren Meagan Phillips of Columbia, SC Blakeley Phillips of Ballentine, SC, Nick and Kelli Hardegree and Sara Kate Hardegree all of Covington and her two beloved great granddaughters, Piper Phillips of Ballentine, SC and Lillian Hardegree of Covington. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Doctor Michael Pulliam as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Beverley and Bill were married for 53 years. In support of his service in the military, she happily moved to and lived in Illinois, Texas, Oregon and New Jersey with Bill. She was a devoted Christian and the most important things to her were God and family. She was a lifelong member of High Point Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir and volunteered in many of the children's programs. She also made multiple trips to villages in Honduras and Uganda later in life to work in missions including helping to build schools and teach the local children. She loved having her family gathered together, spending time with and cooking for them. She was especially known for her baking and spent time with her granddaughters baking together. She was also known for baking cakes for family and friends on all occasions and was not afraid to package up and ship cakes if her family was not close. Beverley loved to travel, and she and Bill made many trips together including cruises, a 50th anniversary train trip across Canada and many trips to the Smoky Mountains which was their favorite destination. They also took a cross-country family vacation that included Mexico and Canada as well. They even drove round trip from Covington to Pacific Grove, CA just to see their granddaughters for a few days. Later in life, her hobbies included reading, quilting, ceramics and staying connected with family and friends. Beverley spent over 30 years in the banking industry with Bank of America before she retired in 1997. In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.or/dontae or High Point Baptist Church, 12025 GA-36, Covington, GA, 30014, Attn: Missions Fund. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday June 15, 2024, at 2:30 pm at High Point Baptist High Point Baptist Church, 12025 GA-36, Covington, GA, 30014 with Pastor Steven Adams officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until service time.
