Bryant "Mac" Blackwell Jr.

Bryant “Mac” Blackwell, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, March 13, 2019, surrounded by his family, at the age of 86. Born in Monticello, GA to Warren Samuel Blackwell and Minnie Lou (McMichael) Blackwell Frith. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Marie Blackwell Clifton. Mac was a member of Lovejoy United Methodist Church from 1954 to the present. He and Wallace Aiken stirred a lot of stew at the Lovejoy BBQ’s, which he really enjoyed. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Mac proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Alaska in the ASA. He retired from Schering, Inc. Pharmaceutical Company in 1997 after 40 years. Mac is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marlene McDonald Blackwell of Covington; son and wife, Toney and Gloria Blackwell of Covington; daughter and husband, Marcie and Alan Sigman of Covington; sister, Annette Dennis of Eatonton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sammy and Annie Belle Blackwell of Hillsboro, GA, Lee and Virginia Frith, of Brooksville, MS; brother-in-law and wife, Stanley and Carolyn McDonald of Covington; grandchildren, Kristie Blackwell, Renee Blackwell, Amanda Blackwell, Aimee (Bill) Lawson, Cassie (Curtis) Singleton, Katie Moss, all of Covington; great grandchildren, Madison Lawson, Gabe Lawson, Kaleena Blackwell, Ava Moss, Kayson Moss, Cambree Singleton, Coulter Singleton, all of Covington. Friends may visit with the family Friday, March 15, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Wheeler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:00 am at Lovejoy United Methodist Church with Pastor Gil Gainer officiating. The body will lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
