She was 87 years of age. Jane was born in Anniston, AL to Rev. Thomas J. and Devada (Grizzard) Sparks. She was a beloved member of Belmont Baptist Church and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Jane loved tropical fish, finding joy and peace in watching them and seeing their many different colors. She was also an avid vegetable gardener, nurturing plants, and sharing the bounty with friends and family. Her love for reading brought her countless hours of pleasure and knowledge. Fishing was another favorite pastime, and Jane could often be found by the water, enjoying the tranquility of nature. She delighted in putting puzzles together, always up for a challenge and finding satisfaction in completing intricate designs. Travel was a significant part of Jane’s life, and she cherished the memories made while exploring new places. A devoted baseball fan, rarely missed a game, cheering on her favorite teams the Atlanta Braves and Gwinnett Stripers with enthusiasm. She was also a Georgia Tech fan. Above all, Jane treasured the time spent with her family and church friends. She valued these relationships deeply and found great comfort and joy in their company. Jane is preceded in death by her beloved husband and soulmate of 59 years, George Lee Clackum, her parents Rev. Thomas J. and Devada (Grizzard) Sparks, granddaughter Michelle Taylor, brothers Jerry Sparks and Larry Sparks, and sister Virginia McCollum. Her memory will forever be cherished by her children and their spouses, Elizabeth and Terry Guider of Conyers, George and Karen Clackum, Sr. of Covington, Roy and Evalyn Clackum, Sr. of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Sarah (Kenny) Guider, Gabrielle Guider, George (Laurin) Clackum, Jr., Franklin (Lydia) Clackum, Tiffany (Michael) Hartz, Brittain (Amanda) Hunt, Roy Clackum, Jr., Benjamin Clackum and Elizabeth Clackum (Cameron Phillips); great grandchildren, Garret, Jacob, Eden, Adaline, Avery, Daniel, Thomas, Eli, Lucy, and baby Hunt; along with sisters, Billie Reeves of Oxford, AL, Gayle Sparks of Munford, AL and Roberta Sparks of Oxford, AL. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the love she shared with all who knew her. A service to celebrate Jane's life will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11 am in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Nolan Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 25th from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11am at Miller Funeral Home, Oxford, AL with Pastor George Clackum, Jr. (grandson) officiating.
