He was born in Belize City, Belize, on May 7, 1951, to the late Reginald Fitzgerald Staine and Hortense Violet Gibson-Staine. Crispin immigrated to the United States in 1966. He displayed remarkable patriotism and determination by volunteering to enlist in the United States Army before graduating from high school, despite not being a U.S. citizen and being exempt from the draft. Crispin's unwavering commitment to serve led him to enter the military on June 16, 1969, in the Bronx, New York. As a Private, E-1, he dedicated himself to his training and quickly excelled in his Military Occupational Specialty as an 11B20 Light Weapons Infantry. Crispin's determination was further demonstrated during his Basic Airborne Training at the U.S. Army Infantry School (USAIS) in Fort Benning, Georgia. Despite fracturing a foot on his final training jump, he persevered and successfully completed his training. Throughout his military career, Crispin was recognized for his bravery and skill. Among his most notable honors were the Combat Infantryman Badge, awarded to infantrymen who faced hostile fire and were engaged in active ground combat, and the Vietnam Service Medal with Campaign Star, acknowledging his participation in the Vietnam War. He also earned the prestigious Vietnam Campaign Medal, signifying his service in the conflict for an extended period. Crispin's dedication to his duty saw him rise to the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4, E-4) on December 15, 1970. His foreign service in the U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) spanned 10 months and 29 days, culminating in an Honorable Discharge on January 5, 1972. Crispin's legacy as a fearless and committed soldier will forever be remembered by his family, friends, and fellow service members. Crispin was a devoted father. His first child, Crispin Arthur, was born on August 8, 1970 (Merlene), prior to his deployment to Vietnam. His daughter, Cristina Junetha (June), was born on February 9, 1976. Crispin was a skilled carpenter. He initially worked at Rikers Island then went to Harlem Hospital, where he worked for 25 years. He retired as head carpenter in 2015, and subsequently moved to Georgia to be near his daughter and grandchildren. Crispin was an avid tennis fan and loved all things related to the royal family. He is probably happily hanging out with Queen Elizabeth II right now!! He had an incomparable zest for life and enjoyed spending time with his family; you could always count on him to take long road trips and attend special family events. He was loving, generous and kind, and he had a vivid imagination that kept us laughing. To know him was to love him. Crispin went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Leonard O. Staine, Walter E. Staine, Rita S. Staine, Rosalie M. Staine, and niece, Bernadette J. Staine. He leaves to mourn his passing: son, Crispin A. McKenley (Kelly); daughter, Cristina J. Alberic (Jacque); stepchildren Howard Steward and Antionette M. Pringle; grandsons, Keenan, Finn, and Zion; granddaughters, Hayley and Arriyona; siblings, John A. Staine, Audrey B. McKenzie (Wellington), Raymond O. Staine, Reginald J. Staine (Gloria), and Annah M. Staine-Moore; nieces, Jennifer, Sharon, Johnniemae, Deborah, Christine, Deanne (Griffin), Carla, Pia, Zsa Zsa, Hadiya, Shainah, and Madison; nephews, John Jr. (Patricia), Raymond, Richard (Evelissis), Brian (Tracey), Karim (Markeda), Jelani (Kristie), and Jonathan; and a host of cousins, extended family members and friends. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 11 am at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia.
