Donald L. Hammonds (76) of Eatonton, Ga. joined his heavenly farther on Feb. 28, 2017. Donald a life long resident of Rockdale County. Retired from Kraft Foods in Decatur, Ga. and moved to his dream home on Lake Sinclair in Eatonon, Ga. He was a faithful member of the Philologia Masonic Lodge of Conyers, Ga. Donald Hammonds was one of the United States longest surviving heart transplant patients. He received his glorious gift of life from God in Sept. 1993 at Emory University Hospital. Proceeded in death by his first wife Mae Kilgore Hammonds, Parents Mercer and Marie Hammonds, Brother James Hammonds, Sisters Margret Moore and Virginia Bernhard, and many more family and friends. Survived by his devoted wife Linda White Hammonds, Daughter Donna Shomin & Mike Shomin of Pensacola, Fl, Daughter Denise Browder & Barry Browder of Oxford, GA, Step Son Todd Wilson of Gainesville, GA, Step Daughter Angie Cleveland and Wes Cleveland of Mansfield, GA, 4 Grand Children: Shannon and Miller Anne Browder, Rineyville, KY, Tiffany and Jeff May, Covington, GA , Jason Browder, Oxford, GA, Brian Browder, Pace, FL, 3 Step Grand Children: Brittany Brown, Covington, GA, Kayla Cleveland, Covington. GA, Amber Cleveland, Covington, GA, 4 Great Grandchildren: Riley & Carson Browder, Nevaeh & Abigail May, 6 Step Great Grand Children: Hunter Cleveland, Anslee Holloway, Bryce Manville, Hayden Bragg, Easton Walton, Kynslee Jervis. Sister: Sarah & Jerry Driskell, Hampton, GA, Brother: Elton Hammonds,Birmingham, AL, Sister and Brother In Laws: Ophelia & Jimmy Wall, Newborn, GA, Blondine & Miller Hillis, Waynesboro, GA, Steven & Kaylen White, Eatonton, GA, Leola Laru, Douglasville, GA, Herschel & Ann Kilgore, Riverside, Ca, Cindy & Jimmy Campbell, Conyers, GA. Numerous loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Family and Friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home.
