Douglas Theron Patterson

Douglas Theron Patterson, 92, of Social Circle, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Piedmont Athens Hospital. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Edgar Theron and Myrtle (Phillips) Patterson. In addition to his parents, Douglas is predeceased by his first wife, Annie Ransom Patterson; his second wife, Ellen Faircloth Patterson; his brother, Robert Patterson; and his nephew, Daniel Patterson. Douglas was a loving husband, father, PawPaw, brother, and friend to many. He was an avid golfer and spent countless hours "on the green," enjoying the sport he loved. A passionate Christmas enthusiast, Douglas celebrated the spirit of the season year-round. His contributions to his community included active membership in the Decatur Elks Lodge #1602, where he held many leadership positions at the local, state, and national levels. Additionally, he proudly served in the United States Coast Guard as a radio operator during the Korean Conflict. Douglas was deeply loved by his family, including his children, Greg (Terri) Patterson, Jeff (Gigi) Patterson, and Robin Hill; his grandchildren, Eryn Marciano, Anna Patterson, Doug Patterson, Lindsay Patterson, Chandler (Kayla) Patterson, Daniel Hill, and Gregory Hill; his great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Mason, John Roberts, Theron, Aubree, Reed, Dylan, Maddox, Memphis, and Eldora Mae; his niece, Cynthia Stack; his nephew, Michael Patterson; as well as many loving friends. He also adored his furry companion, Lucky, who was a treasured part of his life. Douglas' memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him. His family takes comfort in knowing his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services, with entombment following at Lawnwood Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
