Gerald Lee "Mutt" Crowder

He was the son of the late Raymond and Helen Hass Crowder. Gerald was preceded in death by his brother, Mel Crowder and sister, Joye Crowder Nelson. Gerald and Carolyn enjoyed traveling to their home state of Kentucky to visit family and friends but especially the grandchildren. Gerald was a hard worker, always helping a friend or someone out. While living in Alexandria, KY he was a member of the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department of 16 years. He moved to Georgia in 1983 where he retired from Consolidated Freightways after 25 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, poppy, son, brother, uncle and a friend to many. Gerald will be missed dearly by his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Crowder of Conyers, GA; children and their spouses, Wayne (Char) Crowder of Grants Lick, KY, Jeff (Stephanie) Crowder of McDonough, GA, Greg Crowder of Conyers, GA, Nancy (Don) Cofer of McDonough, GA and Tony Crowder (Misty) of Buena Vista, GA; grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy (Lynlee) Crowder, Caitlyn Cofer, Tanner (Olivia) Crowder, Forrest Crowder, Ross Crowder, Clay Cofer, Jared Crowder, Jordan Crowder, Morgan Crowder, John Crowder, Caleb Cofer, Rebecca Crowder, Mallory Crowder, Noah Chappell and Josh Chappell; great grandson, Cooper Crowder; sisters, Donna (Dan) Burkhardt of Cold Spring, KY and Linda Govan (Denny) of Cold Spring, KY; brother, Gary (Joyce) Crowder of Independence, KY; sister-in-law, Billie Crowder of Wilder, KY; brother-in-law, George Nelson of Silver Grove, KY; many nieces and nephews; and host of many friends. A Celebration Service for Gerald will be held, Thursday, May 6th, 2021 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 6th, 2021 prior to the service.
