Harry David Melton

Harry David Melton, 90, of Covington, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Covington to Lewis and Lucy Belle (Haynes) Melton. Mr. Melton was a very active member of Salem United Methodist Church. He loved gardening, fishing, and vacationing in the mountains and at the beach. Harry enjoyed talking with people, was a very knowledgeable man and loved teaching others about things that he knew. He got great enjoyment from his years of coaching Little League Baseball and he enjoyed watching sports, especially GA Tech. Harry was a hard worker who worked 40+ years with General Motors. He was a devoted husband for 64 years, a wonderful daddy, granddaddy, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Harry was preceded in death by his parents as well as several brothers and sisters. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Cornelia Melton of Covington; children, Janice Goddard of Covington, David Melton, of Milton, GA; grandchildren, Nicholas and Scarlett Goddard, Evan and Kristen Goddard, Bethany Melton Grable and John Grable, Aimee Melton; great-grandchildren, Noah Goddard, Evelyn Goddard, Katie Murphy, Kassie McLain, Dylan Bryant; brother, Charles Melton of Covington. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Carol Standard officiating. Interment will follow at Salem UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2:00 pm.
