Born on June 10, 1949, to the late Washington and Clara Smith. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Yvonne Lewis and Augusta Cunningham. Harry proudly served his country for 20 years in the Air Force, demonstrating unwavering dedication and patriotism. After his military service, he continued his professional journey at Honeywell, where he worked diligently until his retirement after 30 years of service. A man of many talents, Harry found joy in poetry and was the author of three cherished books. His passion for writing and creative expression inspired many. Beyond his literary achievements, he was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend. Harry touched the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom, and love. His most notable accomplishments extend beyond his career and hobbies; Harry was known for his generosity and his commitment to helping others. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service, which will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Harry is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Nora Smith of Spokane WA; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Ann Whitt of Bessemer, Al, Gwenita Renee and Kent Jackson of Stone Mountain, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Larry Joe and Janice Smith of Montgomery, AL; best and devoted friend, Ronald C. Martin of Covington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 10:00 -11:00 am at Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services, 11405 Brown Bridge Rd, Covington, GA 30016. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel at 11:00 am with Dr. Lamar Cunnigham officiating. Interment will take place Friday, August 2, 2024, at 10:30 am at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgins Dr., Canton, GA. 30114 with the Air Force providing honors.
