He was born in Blairsville, GA on June 26, 1936 to the late Joseph Jimmy and Ethel Melinda Susie (Shell) Nichols. Joe was also preceded in death by his first wife, Charolotte Ann Nichols; grandson, Daniel Scott Nichols; brother, Danny Nichols and sister, Charolotte Giles. Joe worked as an electrician and plumber for years. He was a devoted preacher running tent revivals with his son Frank. He was a musician. Joe will be forever remembered by his family and friends as a loving, kind, giving, encourager to anyone he came in contact with. He always tried to make people feel good when he was around them. leading a helping hand to those in need. Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Joe is survived by his wife, Judy Nichols of Covington; sons, David Joseph Nichols of Covington, Frank Edward Nichols of Blairsville; daughter and fiancée, Joann Nichols Carroll (Johnny McCullough), of Johnson City, TN; grandchildren, Christy Lynn Nichols, Brian Preston Nichols, Christopher Carroll and Brandon Carroll; great grandchildren, Riley Nichols, Caleb Phillips, Kaleigh Carroll, Erin Wilcox Henry and Ariana Nichols; sister, Becky Prater; niece, Gail Ann Adams; step-children, Bobbie Joe (BJ) Maddox (Mike Teal), Cathy Wagner (Donnie), Michael (Bubba) Sullivan, and Mickey Edward; 11 step-grandchildren; and a host of many friends. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Terry Casper officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Baptist Church, Conyers, GA with Rev. Frank Nichols officiating the committal service.
