Lula Bell "Betty" Griswell

Born and raised in Hiawassee, GA, Betty went on to spend most of her adult years in Conyers, GA as she raised her family. She worked at the telephone company in Atlanta and later owned and operated a dress shop. However, what she was best known for was the incredible, unfailing love that she showed to all her growing family throughout the decades of her life. Betty is best described as both loving and sweet. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, diligently praying for the people she loved and consistently contacting faith-based ministries on their behalf. Betty made her love known to the people in her life by her incredible self-sacrificing nature as she took care of those around her. Her work ethic and efforts in taking care of others left little room for much else in her life. She was an amazing cook who let no one go hungry and there wasn’t a person who would turn down a meal made by her hands. Betty loved to laugh and took special care in selecting her jewelry with each outfit that she wore. She was often found holding her babies and she loved to feed them desserts. Betty was preceeded in death by her parents, Commodore and Lula Hilton, her husband of 66 years, Bill Griswell, her daughter, Carla Cromer, and her son-in-law, Tommy Cromer. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy King, and son-in-law Mike of Commerce, GA, 5 grandchildren who loved her dearly; Scott, Tammy (Dusten), Dusty (Shannon), Kacie (Jeremy) and Travis (Ramona) and 8 great grandchildren; Chase, Ashley, Ty, Klayton, Kollins, Amie, Ezra and Ellen. She leaves an incredible legacy of a life spent serving others and her family is forever grateful for the love she gave and the example she set. Covington, GA, the family will receive friends from12:pm-2pm. She will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Stewart Baptist Church Cemetery.
