She was born in Rockmart, GA to the late David Franklin and Helen (Piper) Knight. Kathleen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, “AKA” Granny. She was a sweet loving person, a wonderful mother, a tremendous best friend that was loved by so many and who never met a stranger. Kathleen enjoyed gardening, doing puzzles, adult coloring books, and reading. She loved shopping at Goodwill and eating chocolate. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family and friends and going on family trips to the mountains. Kathleen was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Hammonds, sister Virginia Pike, brothers Marvin (T-Model) Knight and W L (Duck) Knight. Her survivors include her children and their spouses, Teresa Bunch (Thomas), Tammy Thompson (Anthony) Zack Hammonds (Shelley) and Roxanne Hammonds; grandchildren and their spouses, Tiffany (Jeff), Brandi (Nick), Mikayla (Dalyn), Brian (Katy), and Miranda; great grandchildren, Alex, Brooklyn, Nathan, Mason, Bryson, Collin, and Brayden; and special thanks to her sister and best friend Marilyn Hailey. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 2 pm in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services 11405 Brown Bridge Rd, Covington with Pastor Ken Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until 2. Guests may send condolences to www.wheelerfuneralhome.com.
