Maximina Rivera

Maximina Rivera was born on June 6, 1920 in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. She was the eldest of her siblings. She migrated to New York and eventually found her forever home in Covington, Georgia. Maximina started studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1967. She quickly realized she had found true teachings of the Bible, dedicated her life to do God’s will, and was baptized in 1968. Due to her humble and modest disposition, it was very easy for Maximina to continuously apply Bible counsel along with “the new personality” as mentioned in Colossians 3:10. Her home was always open and became a warm meeting place for local witnesses. When international conventions were held near her home, the international delegates were also welcomed in. Maximina thoroughly enjoyed her service to Jehovah, but especially the preaching work - which involved her helping others come to know Jehovah. At 102 years old, she was able to auxiliary pioneer last month under the new arrangement demonstrating her faithfulness to Jehovah. What was most valuable was becoming the spiritual matriarch of her family as her children were amongst those learning about Jehovah. She was a fervent student of the Bible. When the organization included computer technology as a study method, at 97 years old, she learned how to manage the new webpage on a tablet. This enabled her not to miss a day of reading the daily text as well as the weekly and monthly theocratic programs available. Maximina is survived by her children - Felix Gomez, Carmen Rivera, Manuel Gomez, Dolores Martinez, and Raul Millan. She also had nine grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services, Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 6pm - 8pm. Guests may sign the online register at www.wheelerfuneralhome.com. Era la mayor de sus hermanos. Emigró a Nueva York y eventualmente encontró su hogar permanente en Covington, Georgia. Maximina comenzó a estudiar la Biblia con los testigos de Jehová en 1967. Rápidamente se dio cuenta de que había encontrado las enseñanzas bíblicas verdaderas, dedicó su vida a hacer la voluntad de Dios y se bautizó en 1968. Debido a su carácter humilde y modesto, a Maximina le resultó muy fácil aplicar continuamente los consejos bíblicos y desplegar “la nueva personalidad” como se menciona en Colosenses 3:10. Su casa siempre estuvo abierta y se convirtió en un cálido lugar de encuentro para los testigos locales. Cuando se celebraban asambleas internacionales cerca de su casa, también daba la bienvenida a los delegados de diferentes países. Maximina disfrutó mucho de su servicio a Jehová, pero especialmente de la obra de predicar, que implica ayudar a otros a conocer a Jehová. A los 102 años, el mes pasado pudo ser precursora auxiliar con el nuevo arreglo, lo que demuestra su fidelidad a Jehová. Lo más valioso fue convertirse en la matriarca espiritual de su familia, ya que sus hijos están entre los que aprendieron acerca de Jehová. Era una ferviente estudiante de la Biblia. Cuando la organización incluyó la tecnología informática como método de estudio, a los 97 años, aprendió a manejar el sitio de internet en una tableta. Esto le permitió no perder ni un día de la lectura del texto diario, así como de los programas teocráticos semanales y mensuales disponibles. A Maximina le sobreviven sus hijos: Félix Gómez, Carmen Rivera, Manuel Gómez, Dolores Martínez y Raúl Milán. También tuvo nueve nietos, 7 bisnietos y 4 tataranietos.
