Riley Lawrence (Larry) Patton

Riley Lawrence (Larry) Patton of Conyers, Ga passed away Thursday September 21, 2023. Larry was born August 28, 1935, to Augusta (Gustie) and Riley Patton and was raised in Blue Ridge, Ga. In 1951 at the age of 16 Larry forged his mother’s signature and enlisted in the Army. He served in Korea and Vietnam. Upon completion of his military service Larry moved to Atlanta and went to work for Marta, retiring from there in 1997. For almost 48 years Larry gave his heart and his time to the numerous charitable organizations supported by The Shriners. He was initiated and raised in the North DeKalb Lodge 714. In 1998 he moved to Stockbridge Lodge 691. He was affiliated with the York Rite, Scottish Rite and Yaarab Shrine Temple. For numerous years Larry was a member of the South Fulton Shrine Club Hobo Clown Group and famously known as Chico. He served many years as the Ambassador to the Masonic Home of Georgia in Macon, Ga. Preceding him in death are his father Riley, his mother, Augusta, his brother Donald, his sisters Violet Grove and Janette Patton, his daughter Jann Patton and his son, Chris Womack. Larry leaves to cherish his memories: wife Tina Patton of Conyers, sisters Vida Cox, Vera Travis, Neda Hice and Joyce Bennett and brother Kenneth Patton, son Lester Patton, daughter Connie Buice (Jeff), daughter Lori Korenich (Rick), daughter Vicki Smith (Phil), daughter Traci Patton, daughter Jennifer McNabney (Kendra), son, Joey Womack (Tammy), daughter Nicci Marrett (Sam), grandsons Austin Buice, Garrett Smith, Kaleb Smith, Traver Self (Hoot), granddaughters Laurel Korenich, Kalli Smith, Dakota Underwood, Zoey Womack, Morgan Womack (Red), Liberty Self (Saquita), Payton Edwards (Strawberry), Ryleigh Marrett (Boot Scoot). We will miss him terribly, his ability to never meet a stranger and especially his sense of humor. He was quite the jokester and enjoyed nothing more than entertaining the crowds or just individuals. The Celebration of Life will be held at 3957 Airline Road, McDonough GA 30252, Saturday, September 30, from 1 pm to 3pm. Interment will take place in Blue Ridge, Ga. Date and time to be determined.
