Sarah Ethelene Thompson

Sarah Ethelene (Britt) Thompson, of Hartwell, formerly of Covington, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021 at Hart Care Center at the age of 95. She was born in Conyers, Georgia to the late Henry J. and Hattie (Smith) Britt. Ethelene was a longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church and a member of the Otis Nixon Sunday School Class. Her hobbies included gardening and cooking. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Ethelene loved being a grandmother and great grandmother. She truly enjoyed looking after others. Ethelene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Thompson, parents, brother, James Britt and great grandchild Allison Tomlin. Her survivors include her children and their spouses, Cherylene and Ted Schock of Hartwell, Brenda and Robert Housworth of Covington; grandchildren and their spouses, Rhonda Housworth Tomlin (Robert) of Greensboro, Rob Housworth (Melanie) of Covington, David Johnson (Jessica) of Covington, Kayla Wieseckel (Devin) of Marietta, Kris Schock of Roswell; great grandchildren and their spouses, Chase Johnson, Dallas Johnson, Piper Wieseckel, Evan Tomlin (Cristen), Austin Tomlin, Megan Tomlin Batten (Cody), Cameron Tomlin (fiancé Harley Beggs), Logan Tomlin, Reagan Tomlin, Kathryn Tomlin, Laurel Housworth, Ashley Housworth and Shelby Housworth. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 6, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Phil DeMore and Rev. Robert Tomlin officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
