Shirley Jenkins-Edwards, 73, of Conyers, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, February 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was the daughter of the late Artis and Florence Jones and was preceded in death by her sisters, Yvonne Underwood, Betty Sanders, and Annette Aiken. Shirley was a devoted member of Spirit of Truth Church in Conyers, GA, alongside her husband of 22 years, Morris Edwards. Known for her vibrant personality and creative spirit, Shirley had a passion for bedazzling shoes, clothing, handbags, and anything she could make more beautiful. She adored fashion, jewelry, and makeup, and her love for home décor transformed her house into a warm and welcoming home that everyone loved to visit. A talented baker, Shirley was famous for her delicious cakes and cookies, which brought joy to countless family gatherings and celebrations. Earlier in her career, she was a licensed hairdresser, showcasing her talent for making others feel beautiful. Shirley was also an avid sports fan, cheering passionately for the Alabama Crimson Tide (Roll Tide!) and the Atlanta Falcons. Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Morris Edwards; children and their spouses, LaTongia (Steve) Scott of Covington, DeMarcus (Melanie) Williams of Stone Mountain, Christopher (fiancée Erica) King of Tuscaloosa, AL, Beatrice Spates of Conyers, Regine Delus-Brooks of Miami, FL, Laure Jackson, and Maurice Jackson, both of New York; her twin sister, Shelia Wilson of Augusta; sister, Phyllis Williams of Moody, Al; brothers, Horace Wilkins of Montgomery and Clarence Jenkins of McDonough; eleven grandchildren, Alyssa, Anadaeeyia, DeAndre, DeMarcus Jr., DeMetrius, Braelyn, Amari, Gabrielle, CJ, Kimiya, and Jaquarious; and one great-grandchild on the way; special cousins who were like sisters, JoAnne Richardson, Pamela Richardson, Riche’ Richardson, and Dailetta Laveder; She also leaves behind her special nephew, Marvin Turner of Douglasville; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and many many friends, in addition to her “G.E. Babies”. A funeral service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services, with Pastor David Beal officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Guests may sign the online registry book at www.wheelerfuneralhome.com.
