Sylvia Virginia Miller

Sylvia Virginia (Effel) Miller, 83, of Covington, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at Social Circle Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Atlanta, GA to “Papa Joe” and Doris “Dee” (Booth) Effel. Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Charles W. Mills, III, second husband Eugene Kenner Miller, nephew Todd Effel, and furry babies Joey, Fanci and Mitih. Sylvia was a very loving wife, mother, sister and “Grandma Sylvia”. Her outgoing and vibrant personality made sure she never met a stranger. She loved to sing and dance and being around her would put anyone in a good mood. Her caring nature made her chosen profession as a Registered Nurse with Northside Hospital Labor and Delivery unit for 25 years a perfect fit. She had a great sense of humor with a kind disposition. Sylvia loved all animals which was evident by the care she always gave her furry babies. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and shopping at thrift stores. Sylvia was always dressed to impress and was always a true Southern lady. Born of Jewish heritage, she converted to Christianity as a young woman and was a member of Central Church in Covington. Sylvia was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters and son-in-law, Debbie and Eddy Miller, Diana Thrasher; grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and Allen McGee, Chris and Ashlee Miller, Amber and Benny Land, Brett and Shima Loran, PJ and Nicole Miller, Rachael and Edward “Tank” Thomas; great grandchildren Seria, Hugo and Alicen; brother Eddie Effel,; niece Cheree Effel Forbes; great niece Emily Effel; great nephew Grant Forbes; furry baby JoJo; along with other loving family members. Funeral Services for Sylvia will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 2pm in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Darrell Allen officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 am – 2pm. Interment will take place Monday, December 23, 2024, at 11 am at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain.
