Tommy Hugh Maughon

Tommy Hugh Maughon 76, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital. Tommy was born in Walnut Grove, GA to the late Howard Pate and Willie Edna (Young) Maughon. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his granddaughter Hope Morgan Stowe, sister Tina Kitchens, and brothers Felton, Gene, Vester, Bobby Maughon also his close cousins Cooker and Ed Malcom. He is survived by his sweet wife of 57 years Neely (Haulk) Maughon, his son and daughter in law Calvin and Kim Maughon, daughter and son in law Michelle and Tim Stowe, grandchildren Hannah and Austin Potts, Holly and Billy Malcom, Thomas, Timothy, Tatum Maughon, great grandchildren Lillian Malcom, Hastin Potts, his furry baby Gracie and an abundance of other family, and friends. Tommy was a wonderful man, a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, and also known as papa. He was a hardworking man of God, and a great provider for his family. He retired from The Covington News in 1986 and then opened Maughon Woodworks and furniture Company. Tommy was a long and faithful member of Cornish Mountain Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and seven years as the youth director. He enjoyed spending time at their lakehouse, and fishing off the dock. Tommy was an enormous prayer warrior for his family and friends. He is dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, September 21, 2020 at 2 pm at Cornish Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. A family visitation will be from 1pm-2pm in the sanctuary at Cornish Mountain Baptist Church Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. Please understand we will be following the State’s COVID guidelines. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please bring and wear a mask while in the building, and are encouraged to practice social distancing.
