In Loving Memory of Walt "Wally" Schellenberg November 9, 1939 – March 7, 2025 Walt "Wally" Schellenberg, 85, of Covington, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Walt was born in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Walter Fredrick and Dorothy Ann Schellenberg, Sr. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Walt was preceded in death by his beloved son, Lewis Scott; his sisters, Mary Ann Humphrey and Norma Nusbaum; and his parents. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. A proud member of Zion Baptist Church, Walt was a man of faith and community. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was a past president and active member of the Rockdale County Coin Club. Walt had a passion for coin collecting and woodworking, hobbies that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with others. He also loved traveling across the country with his devoted wife, Virginia, creating countless memories along the way. Walt is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Virginia Schellenberg of Covington; his children and their spouses, Pamela (Mark) Hoernschmeyer of St. Louis, MO, Cindy Edwards and Rick Robinson of DeLand, FL, and Randy (Angie) Scott of Covington; his grandchildren, Jadin, Avery, Allyson, Conner, Amanda, Michael, Megan, Isabelle, Lewis, Jr, Amanda (Dillon), Jennifer, Josh, Marco (Amanda), Chelsey; and his four cherished fur babies, Grace, T.T., Rascal, and Lou Lou. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. A funeral service to celebrate Walt’s life will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Zion Baptist Church in Covington, with Rev. Frank Daws officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and again on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service.
